Hardy Water Lilies (Nymphaea)

  • These water lilies bloom spring thru fall depending on the variety

     

  • They are available in a variety of colors and sizes

     

  •  May 2008 WGI Founding Member Pairat Songpanich of Thailand has produced the first Blue Hardy Water Lily. Nymphaea 'Siam Blue Hardy'.  No word on when it will be available for the trade. When it does it should be a very popular item.

     

  • Hardy water lilies will go dormant in the fall and come back in the spring

     

  • Hardy lilies have smooth edge leaves while  tropicals  have serrated edges

     

  • For best results fertilize  every month during the growing season

     

  • Use a wide shallow  pot   for best results

     

  • Victoria-adventure.org list 1,800 different named hardy and tropcial water lilies. (lets see, how many pots do I have ???)
